Availability

The Palmetto Energy Plan is available in most deregulated Texas markets, where consumers are required to choose a retail energy provider. It is not available in areas without retail choice, such as certain municipal utilities or cooperative service territories.

Grid Balancing: When customers sign up, Palmetto will use their battery to support grid stability during peak demand times. This helps reduce strain on the grid while earning credits.

Signup takes less than 2 minutes and is fully digital—meaning no new hardware, installation, nor service to the home is required. Their current provider will be switched in the background with no service interruption and there is no need for customers to contact their current provider—only pay their final bill when they receive it.

When to Sign Up:	Entry Points: Customers can access the rate plan selection directly from the first task in the feed on their project page, or via a pop-up option that appears on their very first visit if they are eligible. Plan Selection: Customers then choose between two transparent pricing options tailored to their energy needs: one designed for net grid exporters (ideal for larger systems) and one for net importers (ideal for smaller systems). Enrollment Flow: Once a plan is selected, the customer enters a quick, fully digital enrollment flow to confirm their plan details and provide their payment information to finalize the switch.

1	How do I get the Palmetto Grid+ plan?	To get an electricity plan, simply sign up online. We'll handle the switch from your current provider with no service interruption or home installation needed. No need to contact your current provider, just pay their final bill when you receive it.
2	Do I need an electrician, new hardware, or wires to my home?	No, we use your existing electrical infrastructure. Electricity is delivered over the same wires you use today. No installations, rewiring, or electricians are needed.
3	Do I need to wait until my solar panels are installed to sign up?	No, you can sign up with us before your system is active. By signing up early, you can ensure a smooth transition once your solar panels are installed.
4	How is my plan's pricing calculated?	Pricing depends on your location and includes grid connection fees, local taxes, transmission and distribution fees. You can view your specific rate quote during the sign-up process on home.palmetto.com.
5	Do credits expire? Early termination fees? What is your cancellation policy?	No, receive unlimited bill credits for the excess energy production. Yes. Palmetto Grid+ Plan (with solar panels): If you have solar panels with us and are enrolled in our retail electricity plan, there is a $150 early termination fee for 12-month plans and a $395 no early termination fee for 36-month plans if you need to cancel your electricity service. Retail Clean Energy (simple rate plan, no solar panels): If you are on our retail electricity-only plan without solar panels, an early termination fee of $150 will be charged if you cancel electricity service before your contract term ends.
6	How does solar buyback work?	When you generate more solar energy than you use, the excess energy is sent back to the grid. In return, you receive credits on your electricity bill, effectively reducing your overall energy costs. This process, known as solar buyback, helps you maximize the benefits of your solar panel system. There is no limit to the amount of bill credits you can earn. We offer two solar buyback plan options depending on your system size: a plan with a higher buyback rate for systems that export more energy to the grid, and a plan with a lower base fee for systems with lower export volumes. During enrollment, we'll recommend the right plan based on your system.
6	How does Palmetto provide 100% renewable energy?	We match your electricity usage with local, renewable energy from wind and solar power on an annual basis. For every unit you use, we ensure the same amount is generated and added to the grid, supporting a cleaner, sustainable future.
7	Homeowner support? What if I have a power outage? Who handles customer support?	Any support inquiries from customers can be routed by email <[email protected]>. For power outage related inquiries, customers should reach out to their local transmission & distribution utility provider: (Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP, Lubbock Power & Light, TNMP).
8	How long does the 1:1 solar buyback rate last?	When you enroll in the Palmetto Energy Plan, your 1:1 solar buyback rate, along with all other plan terms, are initially for the full 12-month or 36-month period of your energy plan. At the end of this initial term, your energy plan will be subject to annual renewal. We will notify you in advance of your renewal date with available options to ensure a seamless continuation of your service.
9	Does LightReach cover termination fees from the current Retail Electricity Plan?	LightReach does not reimburse customers or installers for any termination fees associated with their existing REP. If the installer wishes to reimburse their customer directly, they are able to do so.
10	How does Palmetto provide electricity service?	When you sign up for a plan with Palmetto, your service is provided by Light Energy (Public Utility Commission of Texas REP #10340). Palmetto collaborates with Light to offer you transparent, affordable electricity, all managed through the Palmetto platform, including billing and customer support.
11	Paying for the Retail Electricity Plan?	The Retail Electricity Plan is paid just like current utility bills - via debit or credit card. For the avoidance of doubt, this is separate from the standard LightReach PV billing, which is executed via ACH.
12	Availability	The Palmetto Grid+ Plan is available in most deregulated Texas markets which require all consumers to select a retail energy provider. It is not available in those utilities (typically independent munis or co-ops) which do not require/offer retail choice.
13	How does the 15% discount work?	As a new customer enrolling in Palmetto's retail (grid) electricity plan, you will automatically receive 15% off your grid energy charges until your solar system is activated (PTO). This discount will appear on your monthly retail electricity bill.
14	When they sign up with the Battery Rewards Plan, for how long is the $4/kWh credit for? Does it last the entirety of the PPA/lease contract (25 yrs) or is it only limited to a certain time period?	It will be $4/kWh for as long as the customer is enrolled in the Battery Rewards (grid electricity) plan. Typical for TX retail electricity plans, this Battery Rewards plan is a 12 month plan. Before it expires, Palmetto will offer the customer the option to renew for another term, seeking the same competitive rates and battery rewards (perhaps even better). If they don't take action, we'll automatically roll them into a month to month plan that continues on, which is common practice in the TX retail electricity market.
