Introducing Palmetto Energy

The Palmetto Energy Plan is a retail electricity plan (REP) that provides renewable grid energy for homes beyond their power produced by solar. It also provides competitive import rates and matched buyback rates for excess solar production. Homeowners sign up for Palmetto Energy REP when they go solar with LightReach, providing added savings and convenience by getting 100% of their home energy all from one place: Palmetto.

This first-of-its-kind bundle is exclusive in the market.

The Palmetto Energy REP gives Certified Installers a differentiated solution in the market. Installers can recommend the Palmetto Energy Plan today, starting in Texas. Prior to activation, homeowners can sign up in their home.palmetto.com account in less than 60 seconds -- no need for any hardware or service to the home.

When customers sign up for a Palmetto Energy plan, the service is provided by Light Energy (Public Utility Commission of Texas REP #10340). Palmetto has partnered with Light, a retail electricity provider, to offer transparent, affordable electricity -- all managed through the homeowner's home.palmetto.com account, including billing and customer support. Light becomes the customer’s retailer of record and handles customer enrollment, billing, payments, collections, and energy operations.

Homeowner Benefits

Homeowners in retail choice areas of Texas are required to opt in to a retail plan for their electric service. Rooftop solar customers are especially encouraged to choose a plan that rewards them for their solar generation

However, choosing the wrong retail electricity plans can be costly and offer poor rewards for excess energy sold back to the grid. They can also create confusion by having multiple bills located in multiple places.

With a Palmetto Energy Plan, homeowners gain added savings and convenience by getting 100% of their home energy all from one place: Palmetto.

  • Convenient: All of their power managed in one place

  • Savings: 1:1 Solar buyback match - customers get full 1:1 credit for excess solar production-- matched at the same rate they pay. Credits never expire. No hidden fees.

  • Sustainable: Any electricity needed beyond solar is from 100% renewable sources.

  • Easy: Sign up in <60 seconds. No extra credit checks. Cancel any time without a fee.

Sales Process & Sign Up

Palmetto Energy is available for all Texas LightReach customers today. Homeowners can sign up before or after their system is active. By signing up early, they can ensure a smooth transition once their solar panels are installed. The plan is designed to be a great offer without solar, and even better with.

Who Can Sign Up:

Any LightReach customers in Texas.

Where to Sign Up:

Online via the homeowner's home.palmetto.com account.

When to Sign Up:

ASAP. Customers can sign up as soon as they have achieved NTP. Signing up early locks in competitive rates for the full term.

Sign Up Time:

Less than 60 seconds. No hardware needed, no service required, and no need to contact their current provider.

Matched 1:1 Buyback rate:

Homeowners get full 1:1 credit for excess solar production (exports) as they pay for power usage (imports). For example, if the customer pays 13.0c / kWh to import power from the grid, they will receive a matched 13.0c / kWh credit for any exports of excess solar production.

Recommended, but optional:

The Palmetto Energy Plan is recommended for all customers. However, it is not an NTP requirement for Certified Installers; selecting a Retail Electricity Provider in Texas remains a customer's choice

To get the electricity plan, customers simply sign up online within their home.palmetto.com account. The Palmetto Energy Plan is offered both as an option in their NTP task list as well as a recommendation within Energy Advisor. Signup takes less than 60 seconds and is fully digital– meaning no new hardware, installation, nor service to the home is required. Their current provider will be switched in the background with no service interruption and there is no need for customers to contact their current provider—only pay their final bill when they receive it.

FAQ

1

How is a customer's plan pricing calculated?

Pricing for the plan is determined by their location and includes various energy components such as grid connection fees, transmission and distribution fees and local taxes.

Customers can view their rate quote via the home.palmetto.com sign up process.

2

Fees?

There are no hidden fees. What customers see is what they get—clear and transparent pricing with no surprises.

3

How does billing work?

With Autopay, the electricity bill is automatically charged to their credit card each month. The full bill amount will be processed within two business days of the due date.

4

Involved Parties

  • Certified Installer: Sells and installs PV system via LightReach Financing

  • LightReach: Financier for the PV system

  • Palmetto Energy: The exclusive REP offered to new LightReach customers

  • Light: The Retail Energy Provider (and administrator of the Palmetto Energy Retail Electricity Plan). Public Utility Commission of Texas REP #10340.

5

Do credits expire? Early termination fees?

No, receive unlimited bill credits for the excess energy production.

No early termination fees (12 month term).

6

Renewable power imports.

Palmetto Energy ensures that any energy not covered by your panels comes from renewable sources

7

Homeowner support?

Customer support for the Palmetto Energy Plan will be handled by our partner, Light. Any support inquiries from customers can be routed to our partner Light by email <[email protected]>.

For power outage related inquiries, customers should reach out to their local transmission & distribution utility provider: (Oncor, CenterPoint, AEP, etc.).

8

Calculating Savings

If the customer’s current plan is unknown, calculate the foregone value of export assuming they aren’t on a solar buyback plan today (Example: 340 kWh/month * 12 months * $0.13 kWh = $530/year savings)

9

Paying for the REP?

The REP is paid just like current utility bills - via debit or credit card.

For the avoidance of doubt, this is separate from the standard LightReach PV billing, which is executed via ACH.

10

Availability

The Palmetto Energy REP is available in most deregulated Texas markets which require all consumers to select a retail energy provider. It is not available in those utilities (typically independent munis or co-ops) which do not require/offer retail choice.
