Water Heater: NTP Requirements

What the homeowner completes to reach Notice to Proceed on a water heater lease, and how to get there fast.

Notice to Proceed (NTP) means the contract package is fully signed and executed, and you're cleared to install. Water heater NTP uses the same steps as HVAC and takes about 20 minutes when nothing goes wrong.

Item

Requirement

ID

All homeowners complete identity verification in their home.palmetto.com account.

Title

The homeowner must be on title. Most accounts verify automatically. If not, the homeowner uploads one of these in home.palmetto.com: a deed or deed of trust, the most recent property tax bill, or a mortgage statement less than 60 days old. For a trust or LLC, the applicant must be a trustee, controlling member or owner, and provide documents confirming it.

Customer account sign-up

All homeowners create a home.palmetto.com account, where they complete their requirements. The invite is sent at the same time as the contract.

Contract

Sent by DocuSign. The homeowner can also sign in home.palmetto.com. If there's a co-applicant, both must sign.

Clear Facts Disclosure

A short order summary. The homeowner checks the key details and signs off in home.palmetto.com. A copy is emailed to them afterward.

Payment method

ACH autopay is required, set up in home.palmetto.com through Plaid: direct bank login (most common), manual match with routing and account numbers, or microdeposit verification as a last resort. A bank statement showing name, full account number and routing number is accepted in place of a voided check. Cash, checks and credit cards aren't accepted.

Tips for a fast NTP

  • Clear NTP before you install, even on a same-day emergency swap. It usually takes about 20 minutes.

  • Can't finish in the home? Send the homeowner a link to complete NTP later.

  • No voided check? Plaid usually connects the bank directly. A bank statement also works.

  • One email per property. A homeowner with projects at different addresses needs a different email for each.

Same property, more than one product

  • A homeowner can add a water heater at an address where they already have HVAC. It's a separate account and contract.

  • A second water heater at the same property isn't allowed.
