Generator: Installation Checklist

Palmetto is committed to an exemplary customer experience, grounded in best-in-class asset quality and consumer support. Driving this asset quality are our robust quality control standards, starting with appropriate system sizing, a high-quality installation, and a verified start-up.

This guide walks through everything required to complete the Generator Install Package submission. It covers five components:

  • Install Package Documentation

  • Equipment & Site Photos

  • Installer Attestations

  • FieldPro Commissioning Screenshots

  • Customer Sign-Off

Installation Documents

Use the links and examples in this article to ensure your submission meets Palmetto's internal review standards.

Installation Contract or Work Order

Upload a copy of the signed installation contract or work order. The total cost of installation must be clearly stated and must equal the amount financed by Palmetto, ± $100. Deviations greater than $100 will be rejected pending clarification.

New System Photos

Item

Deliverable

Equipment Nameplate

  • A legible photo of the generator's data plate showing model, serial number, and kW rating.

    • Must match the AVL equipment and approved system design. Required for warranty registration. Illegible photos will be rejected.

Cellular Device ID

  • A high-resolution photo of the cellular device ID label, clear enough to allow Mobile Link service to be enabled later.

Wide / Pullback Shots of Generator (2–4 photos)

  • Multiple photos from different angles showing the full context of the install:

    • Surrounding area

    • All clearance

    • Proximity to doors

    • Windows, eaves, and HVAC equipment.

Used for CO-intrusion risk review, so all entry points into the home should be visible.

ATS Close-Up (+ pullback if not co-located)

  • A close-up photo of interior ATS wiring and bonding.

    • If the ATS is not co-located with the generator, also include a pullback photo of its general location.

    • Legible OCPD breaker rating required.

Main Service Panel (Door Open Photo)

  • A photo of the main panel with the door open, showing backed-up loads and overall panel condition.

Installer Attestations

The items below rely on installer attestation rather than a submitted document or photo. Palmetto reserves the right to request supporting documentation for QC audit.

Item

Deliverable

Generator Sizing

Installer attests the generator is appropriately sized for backed-up loads, based on square footage. (Sizing tool used: PowerPlay at Generac.com or similar.)

CO Detector(s)

Installer attests CO detectors are installed per local code, or per Generac installation requirements, and confirms the count installed. No photo required.

No Conflicting Downstream Generation

Installer attests no downstream generation conflicts exist at the site — no solar, battery, or other generation source that could cause a parallel generation or backfeed conflict.

Load Control Devices (SMMs)

Installer attests to the quantity of installed load control / smart management modules. Paired with a single pullback photo showing all installed devices.

FieldPro Commissioning Screenshots

Mobile Link data alone is not sufficient for the items below — FieldPro screenshots are required.

Item

Deliverable

Fuel Line Pressure Test (3 screenshots)

Three sequential FieldPro app screenshots: (1) immediately after fuel line install, showing constant pressure; (2) generator running test; (3) under-load test. All three must show a passing pressure reading.

FieldPro Green Status (post-runtime)

A single screenshot showing all parameters green with no active alarms, captured after the generator has completed a 30-minute minimum (up to 1 hour) run, targeting 80% load capacity.

Wi-Fi Connectivity Confirmed

A screenshot confirming Wi-Fi is connected and active at time of commissioning. (Wi-Fi is also visible in the fuel-pressure-test screenshots — this item is a deliberate double-check, since cellular activates at warranty registration and Wi-Fi is the preferred fail-safe for reliability.)

Customer Sign-Off

Customer Walk-Through & Sign-Off

Installer attests the homeowner has completed a walk-through covering system operation, exercise schedule, maintenance expectations, and emergency procedures.
