Generator: Warranty & Service Information

Palmetto's generator program is designed to provide homeowners with comprehensive monitoring, maintenance, and warranty coverage to help ensure reliable long-term performance.

This article outlines the comprehensive warranty and service package included with the Palmetto LightReach Energy Backup - Generator TPO Lease program. The program is a Third Party Ownership (TPO Lease) for single-family residential standby generators.

  • Lease Term: 10 years or 12 years.

  • What's Included: The low monthly payment is all-inclusive, covering a 10-year parts and labor warranty, mandatory annual service, and remote monitoring.


Comprehensive Warranty Coverage

Palmetto enhances customer protection by purchasing a comprehensive 10-year parts and labor warranty directly from Generac for each enrolled generator. This warranty is intended to provide long-term coverage for manufacturer-related repairs and replacements throughout the warranty period.

At this time, third-party service warranties are not included within the program scope. Homeowners should follow all required maintenance schedules and service guidelines to maintain warranty eligibility.

The Generator Program provides full protection for the entire term of the lease.

  • Duration: Full parts and labor wrap for 10 years.

  • Warranty Provider: The provider in evaluation is OnPoint/AIG. Palmetto is also evaluating the Generac extended warranty SKU DEW-EXWAR-100003.

  • Registration Process: Palmetto handles the warranty registration with the OEM and any third-party provider, not the installer.

  • Registration Trigger: Registration is triggered upon the Install Package Approval milestone.

  • Required Information: Registration requires the Serial Number, Make/Model, and Manufacturer, which are captured during the Install Package Submission.

  • Launch Status: Registration will be performed manually at launch, with API automation planned for a fast-follow.


Annual Preventative Maintenance

To maintain optimal performance, each generator will receive a required annual maintenance visit that is fully covered under the program. These visits include labor and standard replacement parts such as oil, filters, spark plugs, and batteries. Annual maintenance costs are estimated at approximately $400 per unit, including $270 in labor and a $130 parts allowance.

Palmetto will coordinate service and maintenance activities, ensuring homeowners have a clear path for support when service is needed.

Annual preventative maintenance is a mandatory component of the program, included in the monthly lease payment.

  • Requirement: Mandatory, annual maintenance.

  • Scope: Maintenance includes replacing the oil/filter, air filter, and spark plugs, as well as a replacement battery.

  • Service Provider: Palmetto issues annual work orders to dealers for the maintenance.


Remote Monitoring

All generators enrolled in the program will include remote monitoring through Generac's Mobile Link platform, which requires an annual subscription of $55 per year. Monitoring capabilities provide visibility into generator performance and system status, while Palmetto will also have access to unit data through the Generac Fleet Portal, with planned API integrations expected in 2027.

Generators are configured to prioritize Wi-Fi connectivity, with cellular service serving as a backup. If Wi-Fi is unavailable, the system will automatically operate using cellular connectivity. Palmetto is responsible for covering the cost of the cellular connection.

During onboarding, both the generator serial number and cellular device serial number are collected and registered, with each system assigned to a single owner and dealer.

Remote monitoring is required to ensure the generator's reliability and is integrated into the program.

  • Platform: Mobile Link (Generac).

  • Requirement: Remote monitoring is mandatory and must be confirmed online at the time of installation.

  • Account Access: A Palmetto fleet account is required to be assigned access to all leased generator units via Generac's platform for proactive support.

  • Cost: The remote monitoring cost of $55/year is included in the monthly lease payment.

The program supports over-the-air (OTA) updates when available through Generac's platform. Optional accessories, such as fuel tank sensors, are available as add-ons but are not included as standard program components.

Together, these monitoring, maintenance, and warranty provisions help deliver a streamlined ownership experience while providing homeowners with confidence in the ongoing reliability and support of their backup power system.

Do I need to buy the warranty and MobileLink subscriptions from Generac?

No. Palmetto purchases and registers the 10-year warranty and MobileLink on the homeowner's behalf. It's included in the lease.

Am I guaranteed to be the service provider for leases I install?

Yes. The installing dealer is the designated service provider for annual maintenance and warranty work on all systems they install. Customers are provided with the installing partners contact as the 1st line of defense
